CAT5E cable for CCTV and network installs

CAT5e remains a standard choice for IP camera runs and general LAN wiring where gigabit throughput is sufficient. This range covers solid copper and CCA (copper-clad aluminium) conductors, indoor and outdoor-rated jackets, and reel lengths from 1m test leads to 305m drums.

How to choose

• Conductor type — solid copper (e.g. Connectix solid-copper outdoor cables) generally supports longer runs and better PoE performance than CCA equivalents.
• Jacket rating — PE-jacketed outdoor cables (e.g. the Excel Fca-rated drum) are built for external containment; the Connectix LSZH patch lead suits internal first fix and riser use where low-smoke compliance matters.
• Length format — 1m leads (Connectix) are for patching and testing; 100m and 305m reels suit first-fix cable runs to camera positions.
• Colour — mostly black for external discretion, with a purple LSZH option from Connectix for internal identification.

Match conductor and jacket to the run length and environment before ordering in bulk, since CCA and PVC options are not intended for prolonged outdoor exposure or maximum-distance PoE runs.
