IP (PoE) Kits: quick answers
How many days of footage will a kit in this range keep?
It depends on the drive and on how many cameras record, at what resolution. As a guide for continuous recording, each terabyte holds about 46 days at 2MP, and about 11 days at 4K for one camera. The median kit in this range is estimated at 28 days. Every kit's card states its own estimate, and motion-only recording keeps footage for longer.
What is the difference between channels and cameras?
Channels are how many cameras the recorder can take; cameras are how many come in the box. Recorders in this range have 4 to 32 channels. Spare channels let you add cameras later without changing the recorder.
What is in the box?
An NVR and its matched cameras, checked against each other. Every kit in this range includes a hard drive. The exact contents, every part with its model number, are listed on each kit's own page.
IP (PoE) Kits
A PoE NVR kit supplies power and data to every camera over a single Ethernet run, removing the need for local PSUs at each lens position. This range spans 4, 8, 16 and 32-channel NVRs from Hikvision, Longse, Tiandy and Prolux, pre-paired with IP cameras and a fitted HDD.
Resolution across the range runs from 2MP (DS-2DE5232IW-AE-S6 PTZ) through 4MP fixed and motorised-lens turrets (DS-2CD2H45FWD-IZS-2.8-12MM, DS-2DE4425IW-DE, DS-2DE4A425IW-DE) up to 5MP (DS-2CD1053G0-IUF). Storage is supplied pre-fitted at 6TB or 14TB depending on kit.
How to choose
- Channel count vs camera count: NVRs are 4/8/16/32-channel but kits often ship with fewer cameras than ports, leaving headroom for later expansion.
- PoE port budget: check the NVR's PoE port count (e.g. /8P, /16P, /24P) against the number of cameras supplied and any you plan to add.
- Lens type: fixed turrets suit set fields of view; motorised varifocal and PTZ models (DE-series) suit sites needing remote zoom or tracking.
- Storage headroom: 6TB vs 14TB HDD options affect retention days at a given resolution and channel load — higher resolution and more active channels consume capacity faster.
- Cross-brand pairing: several Hikvision and Longse/Tiandy NVRs in this range are supplied with Hikvision-branded cameras, reflecting interoperable ONVIF/Hikvision protocol support in the kit as configured.
IP (PoE) Kits — frequently asked questions
What does a PoE NVR kit include?
Each kit in this range bundles an NVR, a set number of IP cameras, and a pre-fitted hard drive (6TB or 14TB depending on the kit).
Can I add more cameras than the kit includes?
Generally yes, up to the NVR's rated PoE port count (e.g. 8P, 16P, 24P) — check the specific kit's channel and PoE port numbers before adding cameras.
