DS-7208HGHI-M1 is a 1U hybrid DVR: 8 analogue channels (HDTVI/AHD/CVI/CVBS) plus IP expansion, giving a maximum of 10 channels when IP cameras are added on top of the 8 analogue inputs. IP inputs accept resolutions up to 5MP; encoding on the DVR itself tops out at 1080p lite @ 15fps, so plan channel loading and frame-rate expectations accordingly on mixed-generation sites.
Cabling and signal reach
Rated for up to 1200m on a 720p HDTVI signal over coax — useful for retrofitting long analogue runs without pulling new cable. Audio is carried over the same coaxial run (no separate audio cable needed at the camera end), with RCA in/out also present at the DVR.
Compression and detection
H.265 Pro+/H.265 Pro/H.265 supported, reducing bitrate and storage draw versus older H.264 estates — relevant when this unit is dropped into a system alongside legacy recorders.
