4-Channel NVRs and DVRs
This range covers 4-channel recorders for small installations: shops, homes and single-office sites. It spans DVR (HD-TVI/analogue/PoC hybrid) and NVR (PoE IP) formats, from 1080p up to 8MP/4K resolution.
How to choose
- Camera type first. DVRs (Hikvision, ANNKE, Dahua, XVR-3104HS) take analogue, TVI, AHD or CVI cameras; NVRs (Hikvision K Series, Prolux, Tiandy) take IP cameras over PoE.
- PoE budget. Prolux PXN-2104HS-4P/4K and Tiandy TC-R3104 supply PoE directly from the 4 built-in ports, powering cameras without separate injectors.
- Resolution ceiling. Options range from 1080p (Hikvision 1U H.265 DVR) to 8MP/4K (ANNKE D941BB, Hikvision 8MP AcuSense models, Prolux NVR).
- PoC simplifies cabling. The Hikvision PoC DVR carries power and video over a single coax run, removing the need for local power at each camera.
- Storage. Most models take an internal HDD; the Hikvision eSSD AcuSense DVR is built around solid-state storage instead.
- Smart detection. AcuSense (Hikvision) and WizSense (Dahua XVR5104HS-I3) add AI-based human/vehicle filtering to cut false alarms.
Check each model's channel-to-port count and hybrid input support before matching it to an existing camera estate.
4CH — frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the 4CH DVRs and NVRs in this range?
DVRs accept analogue/TVI/PoC cameras over coax, while NVRs (Prolux, Tiandy, Hikvision K Series) accept IP cameras over PoE.
Which models power cameras without separate injectors?
The Prolux PXN-2104HS-4P/4K and Tiandy TC-R3104 both have 4 built-in PoE ports for direct camera power.
What is PoC and which recorder supports it?
PoC (Power over Coax) sends power and video down one cable; the Hikvision 4-ch 8MP PoC DVR supports this format.
Does any model use solid-state storage instead of a hard drive?
Yes, the Hikvision 4-ch 8MP eSSD AcuSense DVR is built around SSD storage rather than a conventional HDD.
